Baghdatis advances at SA Tennis Open

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa (AP) -Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain advanced to the second round of the SA Tennis Open on Monday.

The eighth-seeded Baghdatis spoiled a good day for South Africans, beating Andrew Anderson 6-4, 6-2. The two other South Africans playing in the tournament, which is making its return to the ATP tour after 13 years, won. Rick de Voest beat sixth-seeded Ivan Navarro of Spain 6-3, 6-4, and Raven Klassen defeated Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo of Spain 6-3, 7-5.

The fourth-seeded Garcia-Lopez advanced by beating Bjorn Phau of Germany 6-4, 6-3.


Also, Leonardo Mayer beat Sergio Roitman 6-2, 6-4 in an all-Argentine match, and Simon Greul of Germany defeated Victor Crivoi of Romania 6-2, 6-4.
