Wozniak advances in Bell Challenge

QUEBEC CITY (AP) -Hometown favorite Aleksandra Wozniak beat qualifier Carly Gullickson 6-3, 6-2 Thursday in the second round of the Bell Challenge.

The fifth-seeded Wozniak, who was born in Montreal and lives in Blainville, Quebec, will play Kazakhstan's Galina Voskoboeva in the quarterfinals on Friday. Voskoboeva defeated Canada's Rebecca Marino 6-1, 6-3.

Also Thursday, Angela Haynes of the U.S. beat France's Severine Bremond 6-2, 6-4 and France's Nathalie Dechy upset seventh-seeded Olga Govortsova of Belarus 6-1, 7-5.


Haynes and Dechy will meet in the quarterfinals.
