Hanescu will play Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain or Igor Andreev of Russia in the final.
Garcia-Lopez and Andreev will continue Sunday at one set each after the match was suspended due to rain. The seventh-seeded Andreev took the first set on a tiebreaker before Garcia-Lopez won the second 7-5.
Wawrinka, a finalist in 2005, again failed to win in his native Switzerland. He has not won a tournament in two years despite reaching a No. 10 ranking.
