Mixed doubles were added to the London 2012 program last year and will include 16 teams in an elimination format.
"Hopefully I'll be chosen on the Olympic team," Williams said Thursday after she defeated Petra Kvitova in the second round of the women's singles at the Australian Open. "I'm gonna have to play a little mixed so I can get my body ready.

Williams said last year's Wimbledon finalist Roddick would be her ideal partner.
"Obviously Andy. We have so much fun on and off the court. We've talked about it a little bit," she said.
"There are some other Americans coming up if Andy is not playing and doesn't want to play, I have a couple other guys in mind.
"Tall Americans," she added in a possible reference to the 2.06 meters tall John Isner and 1.98m Sam Querrey, who combined to win their first round men's doubles match against Jeff Coetzee and Rogier Wassen Thursday.
Williams also added she would be keen to join either of the top-ranked men's doubles pair of Bob and Mike Bryan in London, where the tennis tournament will be played at Wimbledon.
"I would love to play with one of them (the Bryans). "I think Venus is already trying to get down on one of them.
"I'm definitely gonna go and have fun though."
