American Jill Craybas advanced to the quarter finals by upsetting sixth-seeded Olga Govortsova of Belarus 6-2 7-5. Karin Knapp of Italy also moved into the quarter finals, beating eighth-seeded Mariya Koryttseva of Ukraine 6-4 6-4.
